Test presentation
Serum Protein Electrophoresis is a well-established technique routinely used in clinical laboratories to screen samples to detect protein abnormalities (gammopathies, inflammatory pattern…). Using the CAPILLARYS 3 TERA instruments, the CAPI 3 PROTEIN(E) 6 kit enables the separation of:
- Serum proteins into six major fractions:
- Albumin
- Alpha-1
- Alpha-2
- Beta-1
- Beta-2
- Gamma
CAPILLARYS 3 TERA instruments automatically process the samples to obtain protein profiles for qualitative and quantitative analysis. Direct UV detection provides accurate relative quantification of the individual protein fractions. Profiles are interpreted visually to screen for any pattern abnormalities.
Serum protein electrophoresis is essential to detect and quantify monoclonal components for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with monoclonal gammopathies (Multiple Myeloma, MGUS, Waldenström disease…).
