von Willebrand disease (vWD) is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by missing or defective von Willebrand factor (vWF).
Since von Willebrand disease (vWD) is a complex disease, its diagnosis requires a large panel of tests for an accurate diagnosis and classification of vWD. Multimer analysis is an integral part of the diagnostic process and an essential information for the clinicians for an optimal patient management.
HYDRAGEL von WILLEBRAND MULTIMERS kit is designed for the detection of abnormalities in the vWF multimers distribution related to a haemorrhagic diathesis. The test allows to assess the overall size distribution of von Willebrand factor multimers in human plasma using agarose gel electrophoresis and immunofixation, with the semi-automated HYDRASYS 2 instrument.
providing standardised and reproducible results.
making this test accessible to any laboratory.
compared to in house tests delivering results in 4-5 days.
with densitometry-based interpretations.
HYDRAGEL von WILLEBRAND MULTIMERS allows separating small, intermediate, and large molecular weight multimers.
The assay is carried out in two stages:
The semi-automated HYDRASYS 2 SCAN FOCUSING instrument performs all the steps needed to obtain gels ready for visual and densitometry-based interpretations.
Plasma samples
Ready-to-use gels and reagents: 10 gels of 5 or 11 tests.
There are three types of von Willebrand Disease. In this leaflet, different cases from congenital and acquired VWD are presented.
