A reliable diagnosis of infectious diseases is the basis for efficient treatment and therapy. Since many pathogens cause similar, usually non-specific symptoms, a diagnosis based on clinical symptoms alone is often not possible. For this reason, the suspected diagnosis is usually supported by a variety of laboratory examinations.
Diagnosis
Serology is widely used to detect specific IgG, IgM and IgA antibodies against a range of different pathogens in the serum of patients to support the diagnosis of infectious diseases. Due to the often non-specific clinical symptoms caused by a variety of different viruses or bacteria, numerous analyses are usually required to provide a reliable differential diagnosis. Therefore, the unrestricted combinability of immunoassays, that are easy to perform and fast in providing results, is of particular importance in routine diagnostic services.

The economical all-in-one Alegria Monotests are miniaturized labs-on-a-strip particularly suited for small series. Each test strip contains all assay-specific reagents necessary for the analysis of one patient´s sample. The unique flexibility to combine different Alegria Monotests for fully automated use with Alegria 2 enables the rapid generation of comprehensive patient-orientated diagnostic antibody profiles. In addition to the Alegria Monotests, standard ELISA are available for higher sample throughput.
