Abstract
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), a genetic disorder mainly affecting lungs and liver, occurs in 1/1,600 people globally. In 2020, it has been estimated that 90% of patients with AATD in the United States went undiagnosed because of several obstacles, and were not receiving appropriate treatment.
In this talk, Pr Simone Scarlata will notably present the different guidelines and methods including SPE and phenotyping to contribute reducing the mean diagnostic delay.
Speaker’s biography
Pr Simone Scarlata is member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), of the Italian Society of Respiratory Medicine in Elderly (SIMREG) and of the Italian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology (SIGG). He is also member of Editorial Board of the biomedical journal: “The Open Chemical And Biomedical Methods Journal”.
He has carried on his activities at the University “Campus Bio Medico” of Rome up to the attainment of the specialization with a task of responsible for the activities of respiratory physiopathology and sleep medicine, appended the area of Geriatrics. He has also played formal teaching and clinical tutorship for students of the “Campus Bio Medico” Medical and Nursing school.
Pr Scarlata is author and co-author of numerous publications on national and international journals.
